How to make pure KAJAL

It is best to use Ayurvedic medicinal kajal, made by the following procedure. For preparation, one needs silver or copper plates and lamps, pure cow’s ghee or castor oil and good quality camphor (like bhimseni camphor). A layer of soot is formed on the under surface of the silver/copper plate by holding the plate just above the flame of the silver ghee or castor oil lamp. Slowly remove and collect this soot layer, add a little ghee or butter along with bhimseni camphor and mix properly with a mortar and pestle to form a fine paste i.e., KAJAL.

Applying kajal prepared in the above manner regularly helps to keep the eyes healthy and shining. To make it more potent and beneficial, one can add Triphala ghruta, pure bees wax and pearl ash in the above kajal formulation.

Kajal may prove to be extremely useful to those working on computers day in and day out. The only disadvantage being the black Colour it gives to the eyes. The solution for them is colorless kajal (which is especially popular with men) – that a paste made using all the medicinal ingredients excluding the black soot or anjan and applying it in the eyes.

A very simple but effective exercise is to take cold water into the mouth, blow out the full cheeks and sprinkle cold water on the eyes with the hands. This treatment can be used two or three times a day, practiced over a longer period, brings wonderful results. Whilst keeping the eyes open, rotate the eyeballs. This can be done several times a day.
