Soothing the Skin with Skin Soother

Of all essential oils, lavender is best known for its versatility. It has a wide range of uses from calming the mind to soothing the skin. Lavender is analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericide, decongestant, deodorant, restorative and a sedative.

Lavender essential oil has amazing skin healing qualities as it encourages growth of new skin cells. It is used to heal skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. Lavender has a balancing action on sebum, our skins natural oil. It has a marked effect on the healing of burns and sunburns.

For relief from sunburn, poison ivy, or even chicken pox, try an oatmeal poultice. Cook up some oats and then let them cool until tepid. Spread a layer on a damp cloth and lay it oatmeal-side-down over the affected area. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off. Just try it out such a good skin soother.
