Detox with Dandelion Greens

Detox diets, also known as cleansing diets, are diet plans with the intent of cleansing the body of toxins. They are short term diets typically lasting approximately one to three weeks. Although the body naturally detoxifies, when there is an excess of toxins, alternative methods are needed for maximum beneficial results. They have numerous benefits including better digestive health, higher energy levels, stronger immune system, improved concentration, prevention of headaches, premature aging, and disease. (Not to be confused with curing of disease).
The detox with dandelion greens can also be famous for its capacity to clear up pores and skin problems. If you suffer from acne, eczema or delicate irritation, simply drink a cup or two of dandelion tea for three weeks and your pores and skin ought to start to clear up.

A simple (and free!) recipe for Dandelion Tea:

- get a handle of young, recent dandelion greens
- wash totally with water to take away grime (steer clear of dandelions in lawns that could have pesticides)
- lay the greens out to dry
- pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of crushed leaves
- steep for 10 minutes
- if the tea is just too bitter on your tastes, simply add apple or orange slices, a sprig of mint, honey, or agave nectar to sweeten up the flavour

This Dandelion Greens recipe can be used as a natural face wash or healing liniment for mild scars. Substitute the leaves for dried, chopped dandelion root and luxuriate in!

This drink is very good as it contains several vitamins that are essential for detox like vitamin A, B, D. To prepare the tea you need to add a few teaspoons of powdered or crushed dandelion leaves to boiled water. You may add lemon to taste.

These drinks, when taken occasionally, are going to help you to detox, cleanse your body and will help you to lose weight as part of a calorie-controlled diet. For effective results you may want to consider fasting on these drinks for a period of two to three days. Any detox cleansing diet should only be undertaken once in a while.

They are bitter in taste and, for some individuals, hard to stomach, but it's the bitterness that makes it a must-have food for any cleanse and detox program. “Generally speaking, the bitter foods that many shy away from are the ones that are supportive to our gallbladder and liver. Dandelion has been shown to help get bile moving, aiding in digestion and nourishing these organs,” says Paulson. Try sautéing one cup of greens with garlic for enhanced cleansing support.
