Detox with Beets

The body has its own system for cleansing and eliminating toxins on a daily basis. However with the change in the way we process our foods, the additives and chemical used, the increased pollution and pills, medications and drugs we put in our systems, its no wonder why our liver may need some extra help. If our bodies become overloaded, especially with chemicals, toxins and pollutants then our excretory system, which includes our kidneys, liver, and lungs can slow down or become backed up. If these toxins remain in our body then they can be reabsorbed which can cause harm. A detox tea made of beneficial herbs can cleanse your body and stimulate the elimination process.

Beets are important as they are rich in vitamin A. To prepare the beet juice you will need one beet root, a few celery sticks, and one carrot. Juice them up and add a bit of water.

These earthy roots, whether enjoyed roasted, steamed or boiled, contain plant pigments that are believed to have antioxidant and liver-supporting abilities. While the beetroot may be the most commonly consumed part of the plant, the greens of the beet also pack a nutritional punch of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Consider juicing the greens -- instead of tossing them -- for extra added detox benefits. A half cup of beets or one cup of greens in your juice or smoothie should do the trick.

While great in a salad, beets are also delicious in Kasha.

Detox with Apples

When you decide to follow a more natural diet the decision is determined by yourself, you should decide how long you want to stick to the diet and what you want to achieve before switching to the normal diet. It is important to know the substances to avoid for your diet to be effective.

Are you someone who undergoes lot of tensions and worries everyday in your life? If the answer is yes, then you are a prime candidate for a detox program. If you are the sort of a person in tune with nature, breathing fresh air and eating healthy foods then a detox is not necessary to keep your spirits up.

Each and everyday our bodies are bombarded with toxins and harmful chemicals. We need to keep our bodies clean just as how we keep our homes and cars clean. We can only do this by a proper detoxification program.

Cleaning our bodies of harmful toxins will help us to lose extra pounds, fat and also give us vitality and strength.

There are a few pointers on how to maintain a good apple diet.

The first time dieter should take this diet only for some days initially, preferably three to four days.

Apples are best eaten peeled as the skin of the apples might contain environmental pollutants. The apple skin might also hamper your digestive process also. You have to eat a lot of apples per day to feel satiated but this is only good because of the nutrients your body gets out of eating the apples. Drinking the juice of an apple is not recommended as it contains more sugar when pressed or processed. It is better advised to go in for natural sugar to aid in the assimilation of minerals and vitamins in our bodies.

It is very essential that you drink plenty of water during any detox program. Water helps in flushing out the toxins effectively.

You can have as many apples a day as you want and in fact, you can have two to three pounds of apple in every single meal.

If you are going to be on a detox with apple diet based on fruits then apple is the right choice because of the many benefits it offers. Though apples are tasty and nutritious and the benefits of eating it are many, the temptation to stray back to normal foods during the program is great. But if you stick to the plan and complete the course you will have only yourself to thank for getting back the health you lost.

Apples are great for any detox as they are rich in antioxidants. You will need two apples and two celery sticks, juice them up and add a bit of lemon juice to taste.

Apples are a healthy fruit to consume year-round, but especially beneficial during a cleansing diet. “They are full of fiber, and especially pectin, a type of fiber that can help promote regularity helping to cleanse the intestinal tract, ridding it of any accumulated toxins and food particles that may remain undigested. It is important to consume a wide array of fibers in the diet to help with daily cleansing and elimination,” says Matutina. You know what they say, an apple a day…

These Apple Dumplings are a sweet way to add them to your diet.

Detox with Artichokes

The body needs to be clean from all toxins if it is going to be healthy. If it does become ill, it is often the cause of toxins in the body.

The body is prone to being overloaded with toxins. It therefore becomes a necessity to the best body detox method to get rid of it. It is a matter of getting rid of all the negative elements that has entered the body.

The edible portions (base of the outer leaves and the heart) have long been eaten to support liver health. In his book, The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods, Michael Murray states that artichokes “have a choleretic effect, meaning they promote the flow of bile and fat to and from the liver.” The role of bile is to emulsify fats and carry toxins and waste from the liver into the small intestine. Try adding one medium artichoke to your next salad. They also make a great snack or appetizer.

The artichokes detox diet is not difficult to follow when contrasted with most detox diet plans. The crux of this detox diet is to hydrate with lots of water in addition to eating only whole organic foods like whole grains, lean meats, fish, fruit, and vegetables. During your liver detox diet beets, artichokes, seaweed, radishes, turmeric, cabbage and broccoli are all particularly liver-healthy foods.

Detox with Garlic

A detox plan can take several forms. Some last a few days; others a longer period. With modern living, everyone ingests various toxins in their food. Depending on where you live, there will be some degree of pollution in the air we breathe and the water we drink. Just take a look what happened if you take a garlic detox.

Garlic is probably one of the most widely used herbs in the entire world.  Cultures all over the world have used garlic since the beginning of time.  Even the Bible mentions it as one of the foods the Israelites craved when they were in the wilderness.  Because it is so popular, many do not realize how powerful it is in the health and well being of the human body.  Some cringe at its odor, while others reek of it unconciously.

Garlic is very useful when doing a detox diet.  It has many characteristics that lend it to cleansing the body.  Garlic has been used effectively against a whole host of bacteria, fungus, and viruses.  Here is a list of the reasons garlic is a good item to add to your detox program:

  •     fights against E Coli and Staphalococcus bacteria
  •     detoxifies all body systems
  •     emulsifies and loosens plaque from arteries
  •     kills and expels parasites
  •     contains germanium which is a strong anticancer mineral
  •     used as an enema, it pulls mucus from the body

You have heard about how garlic boosts immunity and protects the heart, but its sulfur-containing compounds also play a role in supporting detoxification. Your liver is usually in charge of neutralizing toxins with sulfur until it's excreted (in a process called sulfation). Adding more sulfur-rich foods like garlic to your diet will enhance this process. Aim for two to three cloves per meal. And remember to carry gum.

Detox with Sauerkraut

As we go through life, we accumulate toxins in our body. These can come from the foods we eat, the air we breathe, or even physically from our environment, and can include heavy metals such as lead (from paint) or mercury (from certain types of fish). Although your body has a good method for eliminating toxins, from time to time it may need a little extra help.

More and more people are becoming aware of the mass assault on our food supply due to chemicals, pesticides and genetically modified foods all in the name of profit. While stock holders are happy, what about the millions of people who are nutritionally deficient and suffering with ailments and disease needlessly! So, Sauerkraut is the best way to get detoxification.

The key to good health relies on the correct ratio of acid/alkaline balance in the body. How one achieves this is by eating 75% alkaline forming foods and 25% acid forming foods, preferably organic. Here Sauerkraut detox help you out.

Acid Forming Foods

- All processed foods! This includes pastas, cakes, cookies, salad dressings etc.

- Meats, including Beef, pork, bird, fish, shellfish, eggs

- All dairy products, including butter, milk, cream, ice cream, cheese

- Nuts

- Sodas

- Caffeine, coffee, tea

- All breads

- Alcohol

- All foods with sugar

- Vegetables such as asparagus, sauerkraut, chickpeas, brussels sprouts

- Vinegar

- Lentils

- Plums, prunes, cranberries

Alkaline Forming Foods

- Salad greens

- Fresh fruit

- Dried fruit such as raisins, dates, figs, apricots

- All sprouts

- All vegetables (except the ones listed above) Especially good are onions and garlic

- Citrus fruits ( even though they are acidic, they have an alkalizing affect on the body)

- Good fats such as olive and flaxseed oil

- Honey, maple syrup and molasses

- Herbal teas

- Fresh fruit and vegetable juices

- Yogurt and sour cream

- Almonds, brazil nuts

If you look closely at the lists above you can get a pretty good idea of what you currently may be eating more of, whether acid or alkaline type foods. To get a more accurate measure you can buy ph strips from any drug store and see exactly where you are at and what you need to do create the optimum ph balance in your body.

This fermented cabbage provides a beneficial dose of “good” bacteria also referred to as probiotics. Probiotics are especially important in supporting a healthy digestive tract. “Our intestines house trillions of bacteria which play a role in not only digestion, but also supporting immunity. Without these beneficial flora our digestive processes may be compromised and gas, bloating, and/or constipation could result. Constipation can lead to a build-up of toxic wastes in the intestines and bloodstream, possibly increasing one’s risk for cancer,” says Paulson. Adding just a half cup of fermented foods such as sauerkraut to your diet will ensure your intestines are armed with probiotics to support optimal digestion and elimination.

Detox with Cilantro

A diet detox is a diet that is planned to help a type of treatment that requires elimination of waste or toxic materials out of the body. Maintaining a toxin-free body may lead to good health.

Chelation is the only way to remove metal toxins from the body. Medical science advocates the use of a synthetic chelate called EDTA. The EDTA is administered to the patient intravenously. The synthetic amino acid then binds with the heavy metals in the body and aids with the excretion of said toxins.

Did you know the seed of the cilantro plant is known as coriander? It's a two-for-one: Both parts of the plant possess health-promoting qualities. While the seed can aid in digestion and help maintain normal cholesterol levels, the leaves are known to aid in the detoxification of certain heavy metals (like mercury and lead) that can accumulate in the body. Throw a handful of cilantro into salads and shakes or onto entrees as garnish.

A couple of tablespoons of fresh cilantro daily will do the trick in about three weeks. Cilantro also provides an overall blood and body cleanse. It increases liver function, helping the organ detoxify the blood and lymph fluids.

Detox with Lemon

The Detox diet has become popular because of the benefits offered by it to us. Nowadays, people have become cautious with their health. Both men and women pay serious attention to maintaining their body weight at an optimal level to the best of their ability. We look for different dietary plans and exercises that help us reduce the excess body fat. We do all this to keep ourselves healthy and fit. One of the dietary plans that have shown effective results in reducing excess body weight is the body Detox diet. It is part of my daily routine to start off by consuming a 16 ounce glass of purified water with the juice of half an organic lemon squeezed into it.

Lemon water is perhaps the best fruit juice for any detox cleansing diet or indeed weight loss diet. Making the lemon drink is really simple and requires only two ingredients, lemon and water; you may add sugar or honey to taste. Simply add a half a cup of water to half a cup of lemon juice and the drink is ready.

Getting this very simple recipe right is crucial to your ultimate result.

Ingredients for the Lemon Detox Drink

2 Tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup Grade B
1/10th Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
8 fl Oz's Pure Water

Mix all of the ingredients together in a glass and enjoy! Initially you may find the cayenne pepper a little hot, especially if you are not used to spicy food but this is something that you also become accustomed to very quickly.

Many underestimate the ability of the lemon detox to support healthy digestion and elimination. Some herbalists and nutritionists suspect that it's the tart taste of lemon that promotes bile flow to aid in the digestive process. The peels of both lemons and limes also act as an antioxidant thought to support detoxification. Easy ways to incorporate this citrusy treat: Add some fresh-squeezed lemon juice to water or throw in some zest to your cooking. You could probably sneak in a few fresh-squeezed lemons a day.

Detox with Turmeric

When it comes to naturally cleansing your body some of the best ways to detox for weed are actually quite simple and easy to do.

If you are wondering about the latest herb to reduce your cholesterol, lower your cancer risk and even help boost your memory, it's turmeric.

It's a mainstay in Aryuvedic medicine and Ancient Chinese medicine and is undergoing tests at the National Institutes of Health.

Detox Cleanse is basically a method of trying to rid the body of any built up toxins in your body. These toxins can actually come from many different sources not least in the food that we are eating every day of our lives. At least we can change what we eat. But we also have toxins entering our body through the environment. This is something that we can change so readily. So, we must try and cleanse regularly to help our bodies to expunge these toxins. There are several drinks that can be of great help when you want to lose weight or just to cleanse your internal body organs. You should basically make these juices from fresh and preferably organic ingredients mostly being fruits and vegetables. Below are a few of some of the detox drinks.

Detox with Turmeric - Traditional Indian and Chinese cultures have valued this ginger-like root for its medicinal properties and recent studies have confirmed its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in the body, and its ability to assist the liver in the proper detoxification of harmful compounds. Antioxidants play a role in combating the cell damage that can accumulate with age. “The goal of a detoxification program should be to support the organs of elimination (liver being just one of them) as well as provide the body with a variety of antioxidants from nourishing foods to counter any free-radical damage that has done insult to our cells”, says Ashley Paulson, wellness coach and yoga instructor based in Burlingame, Calif. One tablespoon of powder is all you need.

Detox with Radishes

Recharge and reset your body with the proper nourishing foods and herbs to support its natural detoxification process.

Try incorporating as many of these cleansing foods and herbs as possible into your diet for 1-2 weeks - aiming for the recommended serving size each time. You should start feeling cleaner in five days! The more foods you eat, the better the results. Take a look what happen if you use radishes for detox.

Radishes in particular, having such a deep red-purple color, have many nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that aren't found in other places.

Radishes are one of the few edible roots in the world, but was actually first farmed actively in Europe before 0 AD. Now they are grown and farmed all throughout the world.

Similar to other bitters, radishes help increase the flow of bile, helping to maintain a healthy gallbladder and liver and improve the digestive process. It’s why you see “Daikon radish served pickled with a Japanese meal -- it’s to cleanse the pallet and aid in the digestion of the meal,” says Katherine Matutina, certified natural foods chef and massage therapist based in Los Angeles, Calif. Add half a cup of thinly sliced radishes to your favorite salad greens for an added crunch or dip them in hummus as a healthy snack.

Corporate Dressing For Women

First impressions mean a lot most especially when in the business world. Appearance is the first article people see. The latest buzzword of today's corporate world is "power dressing." Power dressing increases confidence and gives a sense of authority.

Here are some useful Business Corporate Dressing tips for Women.  These days, when women are equally comfortable chairing boardroom meetings, corporate dressing has taken on a whole new meaning. Here are a few wardrobe musts.

1. Treat your business clothing as an investment and choose wisely. Make sure you buy classic styles that suit your body shape, are comfortable, have quality workmanship and quality material. This is no time to try the latest fads. Take your time and shop around for the best price and the best service. Be aware of the return policy and if possible purchase your wardrobe items at a store that can do professional alternations if necessary. Button down collared tops with a nice feminine cut makes a great style statement. Tops and blouses with long, short or cap sleeves can be mixed and matched with several bottoms. Stock up on lots of camisoles and tank tops to be layered under jackets, coats, sweaters or button downs. Make sure your blouses are not too low cut or tight.

2. For business/corporate situations match your handbag , shoes and belt. Black shoes should be matched with a black handbag. This is not a time to get creative with your accessories or to wear colored shoes. Slacks come in variety of cuts from relaxed to wide leg styles. Make sure you try them on first to assure they fit properly. A pant that fits when standing barefoot will look very different when worn with a pair of heels. Hence it's advisable to try your pants when you buy them, with the footwear you intend to wear.

3. Do not neglect your outerwear . Purchase a good quality coat that can be worn with either pants or a skirt. For cooler weather don't neglect your outdoor footwear. For skirts choose long knee-high boots. Pinstriped suit in a corporate setting is very classic. Choose conservative colors such as blacks, grays and browns. To add a touch of color you can perhaps wear a pastel colored shirt underneath your blazer.

4. Keep shoes and boots in a good state of repair. Scuffed shoes with worn heels will ruin the look of your outfit. Consider what role your feet plays in your work. If you're job involves walking and standing such as giving presentations, assure that your shoes won't fail you. If you prefer heels opt for wider, thicker heels such as wedges which provide your feet with more support. Also, keep your shoes in a good state as worn out heels will ruin the look of your attire.

5. To complete your look choose soft leather gloves that will add a nice touch as well as keep your hands from getting chapped. Keep your accessories to the minimum. A pair of earrings, a simple pendant or broach and a classic watch can keep your look polished and professional. If there are belt loops , make sure you wear a good quality leather belt. Never wear flashy or colorful belts with your business attire. If you love wearing your hair long, consider wearing a classic ponytail or the front part pulled up and off your face.

6. Choose clothing material that reflects the season. Heavy fabrics and tweeds are best for Fall and Winter and will look out of place during Summer, as light linen fabrics will look out of place during Winter. In a business or corporate setting, it's recommended that you match your handbag, belt and shoes. If your carrying a black handbag, match it with black shoes as its not the time to go creative with accessories and colors.

7. Always wear a belt where there are belt loops . Choose a good quality leather belt and don't be tempted to wear a flashy or plastic belt. If you don't like belts choose pants without loops.

Weight Loss in 10 Minutes or Less

Overwhelmed by the idea of trying to weight loss? Start today with these simple steps that can help you lose weight and feel great in a few short weeks!

Tired of crazy crash diets, diet pills and weight loss gimmicks that don’t work? I sure was! Before I became a fitness expert and wellness coach, I struggled to lose the excess 40 pounds I was carrying around. After trying to overhaul my entire lifestyle by following (and failing) numerous restrictive diets and intense workout programs, I started to think small. And once I did that, I finally began to get results! Focusing on bite-sized pieces is what helped me finally lose the weight -- and keep it off. Here are some of my favorite 10-minute-or-less tips from my book, Thin in 10 Weight Loss Plan, to help you start losing the weight for good.

1. Take a 10-minute time out
You may think that in order to lose weight, you need to do more -- more activity, more cooking, more organizing, more planning -- but sometimes the best thing you can do for your waistline (and sanity) is less. Take a 10-minute breather from your busy life and do absolutely nothing. Turn off the phone, the TV, the computer, ask your husband to watch the kids, and spend 10 full minutes with your eyes closed relaxing and taking deep breathes.

Why is this so crucial for weight loss? Stress produces a hormone called cortisol which can increase your appetite. Think about it: When you're anxious, do you crave sugary, high fat foods? Or do you snack mindlessly when you feel really stressed out? Studies show that meditating on a regular basis -- even for just a brief period of time -- can help reduce your stress levels so it doesn’t sabotage your weight loss.

2.  Cut 100 calories
It can be overwhelming to cut out a large amount of calories from your daily diet, and even harder to cut entire food groups, like carbs. So forget trying to completely overhaul your diet and keep it simple: slash just 100 calories at each meal. That’s a pat of butter on your toast, a tablespoon of mayo on your sandwich or the 10 croutons in your salad. Cutting out a total of 300 calories spread out over three meals can take off almost three pounds this month alone, even if you don’t change anything else about your lifestyle (though I know you will!).

3. Sneak in 10 minutes of exercise
When you have a busy schedule, hitting the gym for an hour a day is next to impossible, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fit in fitness. Studies show that squeezing in 10-minute shots of exercise throughout your day can be just as effective -- if not more -- than one longer session. Before your morning shower, try a quick strength circuit of any five of these bodyweight exercises (repeating the circuit twice). Take a 10-minute walk at lunch and skip or jump rope with the kids for 10-minutes in the afternoon. Breaking exercise down into smaller-sized sessions can be more manageable to fit into an already overscheduled day.

4. Take 10 to plan ahead
The saying goes, "fail to plan, plan to fail," and it's especially true when it comes to weight loss. There’s no need to spend tons of time or energy pre-planning for weeks in advance -- simply take 10-minutes out each evening to take a look at your calendar for the next day to anticipate any challenges that might arise, like a breakfast meeting with bagels and pastries, and think about what you can do to head them off. For example, prep some ingredients for a smoothie the night before to enjoy at that morning meeting without derailing your diet.

5. Cook your own dinner
Want to know one of the fastest, easiest ways to slash calories? Cook dinner at home at least six days a week, even if you're dining solo. For most of us, dinner is our largest meal of the day, making it one of the biggest opportunities to overdo your calorie intake. According to a recent study, a whopping 96 percent of restaurant entrees exceed the USDA’s daily limits for calories, fat and sodium -- and that’s in just one meal! Dining at home means you can control exactly what goes into your food and how much of it you eat. And you don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen. There are tons of healthy meals you can whip up in less time than it takes to order takeout! Here are 10 healthy meals you can make in 10-minutes or less to get you started.

6. Keep a kitchen curfew
While some experts I’ve interviewed argue that your body can’t tell what time it is when you eat, other evidence seems to suggest otherwise: A 2011 study published in the journal Obesity that found that eating after 8pm may cause weight gain. One thing that is for sure, if you have a tendency to plop down in front of the TV at night and mindlessly munch on a few extra hundred calories, you can easily pack on the pounds. Creating a ‘kitchen curfew’ of 8 or 9pm is an effective way to curb late night eating habits and save you on average, about 250 calories a day.

7. Outsmart cravings with a 10-minute walk
Cravings. We all get them and we all know how tough it is not succumb! They strike without warning, often at the worst moments. Next time you get that urge to eat a candy bar, try going for a 10-minute walk around the block instead. Several studies show that moderate exercise, like walking, may actually help reduce food cravings. If you still really want that treat once you're back, eat it and enjoy it; but chances are your craving will pass after a short bout of physical activity.

8. Hit the hay 10 minutes earlier tonight
According to recent studies, sleep may be as crucial to weight loss as diet and exercise. When your body doesn’t get enough sleep, the hormones that control hunger and satiety get out of balance, causing you to eat more. One study even found that women who were well rested weighed 10 pounds less than their sleep-deprived counterparts. You don't have to turn in at an unrealistic hour, simply head to bed 10 minutes earlier tonight. Gradually keep turning back the clock each week until you’ve adjusted to your ideal bedtime and are logging in enough sleep, which most experts agree is between 7-9 hours a night.

9. Wear more comfortable clothes and shoes
If you don't have a dress code at work, you can burn off exercise-free calories throughout the day by wearing comfy clothes like jeans or khakis, sport shirts and soft-soled shoes. Researchers from the University of Wisconsin found that when subjects wore more casual attire during their workday they took about 491 more steps per day, burning up an extra 25 calories. It may seem minor but slashing small amounts of calories here and there adds up, and cuts your daily calorie intake without much effort. I’d say this is a pretty simple, sweat-free way to fend off the middle-age spread. If your workplace doesn’t allow jeans, look for dressier clothes that still allow for plenty of movement so you don't have to sacrifice comfort.

10. Take a 10-minute time out from your TV
A body in motion tends to stay in motion, and a body in rest -- well, tends to stay that way. I’m not saying you have to give up your TV time at the end of the day, but pressing ‘pause’ (thank goodness for DVR) for just 10 minutes for every hour of viewing to get up and move around can go a long way. Can’t bear to wait to see what happens? Take a quick spin around the living room during each commercial break. The average 150 pound woman burns about 75 calories walking in place for 10 minutes. Add that to those 25 calories you burned wearing comfy clothes, and you've just cut 100 calories a day. Not bad!

How Do I Figure Out My Bra Size?

Finding the right fit for a bra can be a real challenge. Numerous studies have shown most women get the process wrong. There are many factors to getting the perfect fit with a bra. Figuring out your size is the first place to start.

To measure yourself for a bra, you need a measuring tape and a mirror. You can do without the mirror, but it can be a bit awkward. Measure yourself around your chest, just underneath your breasts. Take that number and add 5 inches -- that gives you your band size. If the total number is an odd number, round up to the next even number. For instance, if your under-breast measurement is 32, you add 5 inches, making it 37, then round up to the next even number, which makes it a 38. Next measure around the biggest part of your breasts, usually over the nipple line. Here’s where the mirror comes in handy; you can use it to make sure that the tape measure stays level all the way around from front to back and around again to meet in front. To find your cup size, subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement.

Before we go through how to figure out your bra size, you need to realize that this is not something you do one time. Your body changes continually. Your breasts are no different. You should resize your breast once a year. You will probably be shocked the first few times when you realize how much change is occurring. In fact, there are 4 ways to measure your bra size.

Once you know how to properly do this, then you can find the perfect bra size for your breasts. The band will no longer dig into your ribs and your breasts will fit better into the cups. Wearing your favorite bra style will no longer be a problem. In addition, your figure will be improved with the proper brassiere size.
